Here's my current cut and some shots from the location scout I did with Patrick today. The venue is excellent, the light not so much - the windows face NE and SE. It's adequate for exposure but it's very flat and dull.
We will use what we've got. The big advantage is the huge space, there are also some concrete pillars to play with. There's a cool effect when the glitchy fluorescent lights go on.
I've booked the Black Magic, tripod, lenses and the focussable spotlight we used on Cyd's shoot. One thing I'd like to try is to replicate the opening shot of my film with the spotlight and then have Patrick step into the light.
I'll probably aim to shoot a quiet opening to the dance scene, maybe with Patrick smoking, like my reference, and build from there. I'd like to also shoot something with Saji interacting with Patrick.
I'm thinking a mixture of handheld and tripod shots. My camera may be better for handheld as it has in body stabilisation. Washington, I wonder if your monopod might be useful, could you bring it please?
I'm still not entirely sure how to shoot it. It needs to be the emotional payoff for the film, so please bring any ideas you have!
